Interactive analysis of quality of output map

Print Previous page Top page Next page

The analysis of quality of the output map is carried out on the basis of the error log (messages) received upon termination of formation of nomenclature sheet of a map of output scale, in the dialog the Map Editor / View error.  Usually, the error log contains messages about ununited objects that have conflicting semantics (for example, different tree heights). Semantics of ununited map objects can be edited in Select object dialog. Uniting is carried out in an interactive mode the Map Editor / Paste & Cut / Merge objects. When viewing errors, superfluous messages about the error of uniting of closed contours can be explained by the peculiarities of the algorithm in the processing of a particular case (two horizontals joining at two points). Such messages are a by-effect of careful control on each point of junction.

Upon termination of an interactive uniting of objects (along common borders) the common borders are deleted (in the mode of Map Editor / Delete object). The output map may contain errors obtained during the procedure of formation of nomenclature sheet and interactive editing. For detection and correction of errors it is necessary to execute Check of vector map quality (Tools / Run Application / Check and correction of data).

At the first stage, it is recommended to perform vector map control in the Edit mode. In this case, you must disable all controls for all bookmarks (the Uncheck all button), and on the Metrics bookmark, include the following types of control:

- Lines closing check;

- Digitizing direction check;

- Undershoots on map border check.

Start the control process with the editing by clicking the Run button. Upon termination of control, make active the Map Editor / View error dialog. The error log contains messages about the processed objects. Passing through the list of processed objects, it is necessary to check the correctness of the execution of automatic operations (closing the linear objects, changing the direction of digitizing objects).

At the second stage it is recommended to execute control of a vector map in the mode of Check. In this case, it is necessary to include all types of control for all bookmarks (the Check all button on the left side of the dialog). Start process of control by clicking the Run button. Upon termination of control, make active the dialog of Map Editor / View error. The error log can contain messages about the presence of objects that contain loops or invalid semantics. Passing through the list of objects containing loops, you need to edit the object metrics in the Select Object dialog (Metric bookmark). Usually editing of loops consists in deleting of superfluous points. Passing through the list of objects that contain invalid semantics, you must delete the inadmissible object semantics in the Select Object dialog (Semantic bookmark).

The ability to conduct an interactive analysis of the map quality using the error log in automated mode speeds up the process of finding and editing errors, improves the quality of creating the output map.
